An Encounter with reality

For the 15th time the HangART-7 art program is staging an exhibition with contemporary artworks in Hangar-7. From 20 February to 14 April 2010 the focus is on Austria. Hangar-7 has invited artists from Austria once before, in the first exhibition in March 2005, and so founded the HangART-7 series supporting less established, young creative artists stylistically and economically and presenting so far unseen works to the public. Five years have passed since them, and artists from quite a few regions of the world have been guests in Salzburg.

“After many (also exotic countries) we are now looking at how art has developed back home again, who has just left the academy or who is still studying there, what the professors at the art universities are teaching and what the talents who prefer to avoid academic teaching and its rules are doing,” says the curator Lioba Reddeker.
 
The research threw up a group of nine artists, four women and five men, whose artistic home is in figurative painting, often also explicitly in experimenting or alternating between abstraction and representation. Many put their inner images onto the canvas and refer to childhood recollections, to landscapes or dreams they have once seen or experienced, such as for example Kevin A. Rausch or Markus Bacher.
